Types of stones of Nero Persia Company
Marble which is metamorphosed limestone (composed of calcite, dolomite, or serpentine) is one
the most famous natural stones. This stone often considered as the stone for gods and kings. This
stone has various applications such as stairs, tiles, facing stone, cemetery, ashlars, sculptures,
benches, paving stones, etc. A great range of colors and patterns can fulfill all people’s dream. The
most renowned buildings which has been built from Marble are the Taj Mahal in Agra, Odeon of
Herodes Atticus Theatre in Athina, Washington Monument and Supreme Court in Washington
DC, Pantheon in Rome in Italy, and Leaning Tower of Pisa.
Onyx is a stone which is composed of layered bands of translucent minerals, classified as a sibling
to marble due to having similar minerals. This stone is like gemstone, and produced by spring
water on the crust surface. Onyx is the stuff of fantasy. Iranian onyx stone have a tremendous range
of colors and pattern, from white to black.
Travertine is formed by the rapid precipitation of carbonate minerals from solution in ground and
surface waters, and also geo-thermally heated hot-springs. From Roman emperors’ era to our
generation, this stone is used in temples, aqueducts, monuments, baths, and amphitheaters. The
most famous buildings are the Colosseum, Tonto Natural Bridge, Hierapolis, Basilique du Sacre
Coeur, Willis Tower, Getty Center, etc. Travertine is lighter than Granite and Marble, and is
beautiful with various finishes including polished, brushed, honed, and tumbled. Travertine is
mainly a blend of different shades and color patterns. The differences in these colors are often the
result of impurities within the formation of the stone.
Granite is a coarse-grained, hard igneous rock which consists of quartz, orthoclase or microcline,
and mica. It forms from slow crystallization of magma with a high content of silica and alkali
metal oxides that slowly solidifies underground. Granite has been used as a building material since
ancient times. This stone is very famous as flooring, countertops and wall tiles due to its hardness,
quality, and wide variety of colors. Quarried long ago in ancient Egypt for construction purposes,
granite is a natural stone that has been used for some of the world’s most famous monuments and
memorials. The most famous applications are Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Vietnam
Veterans Memorial, and Diana (Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain).
Conglomerate belongs to clastic sedimentary rocks, which are composed of rounded or subangular fragments (larger than 2mm) in a finer grain matrix. Litihification and consolidation of gravels form this type of cemented stone. Clasts of quartzite, sandstone, limestone, granite, basalt, and gneiss are especially common. The matrix can be sand, mud, calcite, or quartz. The clasts are transported by strong water current. The finer-size filling matrix is often deposited later on top of the large clasts and then sifts down between them to fill the interstitial spaces. Many conglomerates are colorful and attractive rocks with blue, black, red, and green colors.
